After testing the iPhone 4 “in the controlled environment of CU’s radio frequency (RF) isolation chamber,” which sounds very impressive, Consumer Reports has concluded that there is indeed a spot on the lower left side of the phone that impairs reception when touched, and it probably has nothing to do with the phantom-bar excuse that Apple provided a couple of weeks ago. It has therefore decided with apparent regret, because the rest of the phone is pretty sweet that it can’t in good conscience recommend the iPhone 4. The magazine does suggest that if you insist on buying the iPhone 4, the glitch can be fixed, like everything else in the world, with a piece of duct tape.
