Peter Kaplan to Head Fairchild Fashion Group

Well, cross one name off of the list of potential replacements for Tina Gaudoin at WSJ and Gerry Marzorati at The New York Times Magazine: Peter Kaplan, former Observer editor and current No. 2 at Condé Nast Traveler, has been tapped to head Advance Publications’ Fairchild Fashion Group. FFG CEO Gina Sanders announced today that he’ll serve as editorial director of the group that includes WWD, wwd.com, Footwear News, Menswear, Fairchild Summits, and Fairchild Books. He’s replacing outgoing editorial director Patrick McCarthy. “Peter is a distinguished journalist who has a true passion for newspapers and new media. Given the rapid evolution of business and new technologies, his experience will be invaluable as we position the Fairchild properties for the future,” Sanders said in a statement.
