Levi Johnston has claimed that Sarah Palin regularly referred to baby Trig as her “retarded baby.” He claimed that Palin wanted to keep Bristol’s pregnancy a secret and adopt the baby as her own. He claimed that Palin and her husband, Todd, barely spoke to each other or slept in the same bed. He said Palin was an absentee mother who left all the cooking and cleaning to her children. So how is Palin supposed to react now that Johnston is officially skating his sexy ass into her family tree? Grudging acceptance mixed with subtle resentment seems like the best you can hope for, and that’s basically what “the Palin Family” offered in a statement today:
“Bristol, at 19, is now a young adult. As parents we obviously want what is best for our children, but [Ed: Best use of “but” ever!] Bristol is ultimately in charge of determining what is best for her and her beautiful son.
Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives.
Shorter version: We are helpless to stop this really terrible decision from happening. We have yet to stop hating Levi. At least Tripp will have someone to play catch with.
