So How’s the Oil-Cap Replacement Going?

BP says the removal of the shoddy oil-containment cap, to be replaced with a substantially more effective oil-containment cap, is “proceeding as planned.” As planned, in this case, means that underwater robots have unscrewed the cap, and between 25,000 and 60,000 barrels of crude oil are currently flowing freely in the Gulf. Some good news: The new cap is now expected to stymie the oil as early as this afternoon, though it could potentially still take up to four days, depending on weather conditions. Those underwater robots are probably exhausted from all this media coverage by now. Below, watch them do their jobs while oil gushes. [CNN]
