Alex Mashinsky, CEO of Q-Wireless, the same company that’s helping to bring you Wi-Fi and cell service in subway stations, is now tackling livery cabs with a plan to equip 1,000 cars by fall, eventually overrunning our streets with “tens of thousands” of fewer chances to ever be away from the Internet. What were you going to do, read a book? Look out the window? Too bad. But the plan doesn’t only benefit riders. “Livery cars spend about half of their time idling.
