In this inhospitable political climate, many congressional Democrats are wary of appearing with President Obama, or showing support for the party’s agenda. A few are running ads calling attention to their votes against health-care reform or the stimulus package as a way to demonstrate their independence. But only Alabama blue dog Bobby Bright who was named the most conservative Democrat in Congress by the National Journal earlier this year has truly gone the extra mile by joking that Pelosi might “get sick and die” before he has to decide whether to vote for her for speaker again.
