‘Ground Zero Mosque’ Developers Still Need to Snag Half the Property From Con Ed

The developers of the mosque proposed near ground zero only own half the site where they want to build, the Post reports. Mosque developer Soho Properties told officials it owns the whole parcel, but one of the two Park Place buildings where the Cordoba Center will be built is still owned by Con Edison. 49–51 Park Place is currently being appraised for a possible sale to Soho Properties. Opponents of the mosque wasted no time in jumping on the news. “I wonder what else they are hiding?” Representative Peter King, asked in the Post. “If we can’t have the full truth on this, what can we believe?” Expect another round of legal challenges: The paper says that a sale of ConEd’s property would require a review by the state Public Service Commission.
