Pedro Espada Decides Not to Throw Money at Tailor

State senator Pedro Espada, who has so much money that sometimes he just throws it at people he doesn’t like, is being accused of skipping out a $7,200 tailoring bill. Vijay Rajkumar, an “upscale Manhattan tailor,” says he custom-made six high-quality suits for Espada, but then never got a check. Though Espada insists that he sent back the suits “citing defective merchandise,” Rajkumar claims that Espada is actually wearing them in hilarious photos like this one.

Rajkumar, owner of Custom Men in midtown, said he made and delivered Espada’s $1,200-a-piece suits last year without taking an upfront payment or deposit — never believing a man of the senator’s stature would stiff him.

Heh. Stature. Rajkumar must not be a big newspaper guy.
