RNC Tries to Disassociate From Media Director’s Tweet

After Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s claim that he takes Obama “at his word” that he’s a Muslim, the RNC is now trying to distance itself from a tweet that the committee’s new media director, Todd Herman, posted (which has since been taken down). In Herman’s tweet, he asked if Obama is “amongst the 20% who think he’s Muslim,” including a link to an old interview in which the president stumbled when explaining why people were confused about his religion. When pressed about the tweet, RNC spokesman Doug Heye tried to disassociate completely, claiming Herman’s message was not sanctioned. Heye explained, “An errant, or sarcastically-intended tweet aside, the RNC has never spoken about the President’s Christianity because it is both crystal clear and a non-issue.” Perhaps, let’s cross our fingers, this will mark the end of this inanity.
