Static Kill Completed in Deepwater Horizon Well

BP has finally performed the “static kill,” the spill-prevention move that involves shooting cement and mud into the leaking Deepwater Horizon pipeline in order to stop it up, hopefully for good. But since no oil has slipped by the cap installed on July 15, BP didn’t even bother having a briefing about it — they’re that awesome. [NYT]
