Barbara Boxer’s Senior Aide Quits After Being Found With Pot

One of the California senator’s senior advisers has stepped down from his post after he was arrested Tuesday for attempting to bring marijuana into his office building. Marcus Stanley was halted by police on his way into the Hart Senate Office Building after he tried to “remove and conceal” a “leafy green substance” from his pocket during a screening at the door. The substance later tested positive for marijuana — and Stanley, who has worked on Capitol Hill since 2007, immediately announced his resignation from the job (which paid six figures). The mistake was perhaps especially uncomfortable considering Boxer is opposed to Proposition 19, which would legalize marijuana in California. If Stanley has trouble finding new friends now that he’s out of work, we know a place where he can start.
