rally to restore sanity

Jon Stewart Announces ‘Rally to Restore Sanity’ for October 30

The Daily Show host and New York cover boy announced on Thursday night that he will be holding “The Rally to Restore Sanity” in Washington D.C. The rally - which he later dubbed the “Million Moderate March” - will take place October 30.

The event’s website describes the kind of attendee they’re looking for:

Who among us has not wanted to open their window and shout that at the top of their lungs? Seriously, who? Because we’re looking for those people. We’re looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat.”

Stewart also promised to have some signs available at the rally, since he understands everyone usually has “shit to do.” He held up a few of them, emblazoned with messages like “9/11 was an outside job” and “I Disagree With You But I’m Pretty Sure You’re Not Hitler.”

And what would a Jon Stewart rally be without his partner-in-crime? Thankfully no one will have to find out, as Stephen Colbert announced during the Colbert Report that he will be leading the “March to Keep Fear Alive” on the same day at DC’s National Mall.
