Consumer Watchdog, a nonprofit consumer-advocacy organization, has been screening a series of anti-Google commercials on the Times Square JumboTron this week to draw attention to what it sees as Google’s troubling invasion of consumer privacy. Between the animated Schmidt’s sharply arched eyebrows, oversize forehead, and creepy grin, he looks like a disturbing cross between Buffalo Bill and John Mark Carr, the teacher who claimed to have killed JonBenét Ramsey. Actually, come to think of it, maybe the ice-cream truck and excited children mean they were going more for pedophile?
Not that Consumer Watchdogs’ privacy concerns aren’t valid, but maybe they overshot their mark.
