Obama Picks Funny Guy As New Economic Adviser

The president has selected University of Chicago economist Austan Goolsbee to be the chair of his Council of Economic Advisers. Obama will officially announce the 41-year-old Yale graduate’s appointment Friday morning. Goolsbee, a former Times columnist and History Channel host, won Funniest Celebrity in Washington in 2009 and is a frequent guest on The Daily Show. He is replacing Christina Romer, who left the post last week to return to teach at the University of California at Berkeley. [ABC News]
