Law Enforcement Officer Forgot to Take His Loaded Gun Magazine With Him When He Left the Airplane

A young kid on a Southwest Airlines flight from Burbank to Phoenix found a loaded gun magazine in the seat pocket in front of him yesterday. Flight attendants were given the clip, and passengers had to go through a rescreening process when they landed. “We believe [the magazine] was left by a law enforcement officer on a flight that originated in San Jose and landed in Burbank,” a TSA official said. “The officer was not an air marshal and we are trying to establish contact with the agent.” Apparently law enforcement officers can just carry that sort of thing right onto the aircraft, and the post-flight cleanup was a little lax that day.
