Quota scandal be damned, Brooklyn’s 77th Precinct has thoughtfully posted at least two memos in its station house in recent months detailing both which ticket quotas the cops needed to fill and where they would look for them. If you don’t want to get a ticket in those neighborhoods, it’s probably best to avoid using your cell phone while driving, not buckling your seat belt, and tinting your windows at accident-prone intersections like Eastern Parkway and Washington Avenue, Park Place and Vanderbilt Avenue, or Utica Avenue and St. Parks. After the Daily News got its hands on the notices, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said the memos were the misguided work of a single officer and “neither authorized nor compelled.” Oh, don’t be so modest, fellas, we know you were just trying to keep the citizens in your care safe — from your quotas.
