Sarah Palin’s Viewership Dives With Second Episode of Alaska

Sarah Palin’s Alaska, the former vice-presidential candidate’s ode to America and herself, hasn’t maintained the massive 5 million–person viewership record it achieved with its debut episode. Apparently the rubberneckers have sped up and largely moved on — this week’s episode drew in only 3 million viewers, a 40 percent drop. Now, 3 million is still good for a TLC show, but it’s no John and Kate Plus 8. But here’s what won’t surprise you: The show’s viewership has dropped more than average in the key 18 to 49 demo, and the median age of watchers is now up to 57. This is surprising. Isn’t “flogging the halibut” something that the kids are into these days?
