Arpad Busson: ‘Hedge Funders Are Actually a Lot Like Cuban Revolutionaries’

Last night, ABC News’s Christiane Amanpour hosted a panel about Cuba that discussed the photographic works of hedge funder Arpad Busson. You might know his name from his on-again, off-again relationship with Uma Thurman. (Or his relationships with Farrah Fawcett. Or Elle McPherson, with whom he has two children.) “Hedge funders are actually a lot like Cuban revolutionaries,” Busson proclaimed to laughter in the TimesCenter audience. Amanpour pressed for him to explain the lofty claim. The way Busson sees it, like the Cuban revolutionaries of five decades ago, hedge funders are hunting chaos (in the market) and doing battle (with many regulations). Both are high-stress positions that attract people who want to create waves and buck the system.

Speaking of making a splash, Thurman herself stopped by the after-party at the International Center, where Busson’s works were hung. She and her dad, Robert, were acting very chummy with Busson.
