don't ask don't tell

DADT Repeal Hinges on When Senate Decides to Take Christmas Break

With Senate leadership hoping to wrap up the enthralling lame-duck session by December 17, advocates of repealing “don’t ask, don’t tell” worry that they’ll be unable to provide a small handful of Republican moderates the weekslong floor debate upon which their support is contingent. And if the Senate doesn’t get around to voting on DADT during the lame-duck session, it won’t have the votes for repeal once the recently elected Republicans take their seats in January. That’s why DADT-repeal crusader Joe Lieberman is now calling for the Senate to continue working right up until Christmas, like everyone else in America.

Seriously? This is an actual conundrum that people are torn about? Stay in the capital for a few more days, you lazy bastards. We aren’t paying you to see the new Narnia movie with your kids.
