King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia Reportedly Considering Buying St. Vincent’s Hospital

Manhattan attorney Dudley Gaffin is “sounding out officials and community leaders” about a plan for Saudi Arabian King Abdullah to buy shuttered St. Vincent’s hospital and reopen it, with the Park 51 Islamic Center as part of it, the Post reports. No “officials or community leaders” said they had heard about the alleged plan. The paper claims Abdullah is ready to outbid the Rudin Organization, which is eyeing St. Vincent’s in bankruptcy court to possibly use the property for luxury housing. The mosque would allegedly be built in a space now occupied by a shuttered nursing facility on 12th Street. The Post notes: “Most of those injured on 9/11 were treated [at St. Vincent’s] — as it was the closest level-one trauma center.” [NYP]
