Iran has begun producing yellowcake, a misleadingl named uranium oxide concentrate used to process uranium, Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the country’s Atomic Energy Organization, said Sunday. Previously, the country had been importing it, but claims it’s now mining it and processing it all by itself and produces everything it needs for the nuclear fuel cycle. Incidentally, Salehi’s announcement came just a day before Iran is to continue stalled nuclear talks in Geneva with Germany, the United States, China, Russia, France, and the United Kingdom, who want Iran to end its nuclear-enrichment program altogether.
