False Alarm: Sarah Palin Hasn’t Changed One Bit

A troubling report appeared in the Reno Gazette-Journal yesterday, one indicating that perhaps Sarah Palin, in direct contradiction to everything we know about her, possesses the capacity for self-reflection after all. Here’s what she allegedly said in a speech before the Safari Club, a hunting organization, in Reno on Saturday:

Don’t retreat, stand tall,” Palin told the crowd as she emphasized the importance of “responsible conservation.”

Wait — stand tall? She’s toning down “don’t retreat, reload,” her infamous catchphrase? She’s taking the advice of others and changing her behavior? To quote Luke Skywalker when he found out that Darth Vader was his father, “That’s not true. That’s impossible!!!”

Wait — stand tall? She’s toning down “don’t retreat, reload,” her infamous catchphrase? She’s taking the advice of others and changing her behavior? To quote Luke Skywalker when he found out that Darth Vader was his father, “That’s not true. That’s impossible!!!”

And, as it turns out, it actually is.

Palin aide Rebecca Mansour denied that the former governor dropped the line, suggested to her by her father.

Phew.
