Herman Cain Officially Commences the 2012 Campaign Season

Chances are you’ve never heard of him, but if you’ve ever bitten into a slice of Godfather’s Pizza (there are none in New York City) you have experienced his work. He’s Herman Cain, a former Godfather’s CEO and a current talk-radio host in Atlanta, and, it turns out, today he became the first person in this late-developing campaign season to form a presidential exploratory committee. Cain isn’t entirely new to politics — he briefly considered running for president in 2000 before becoming the campaign co-chairman for Steve Forbes, and received 26.2 percent of the vote in an unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination in Georgia’s 2004 Senate race. But he does boast an almost complete lack of name recognition — only 20 percent of typically politically attuned Iowa Republicans have heard of him, according to a recent poll. As he tells CNN, though, that kind of thing doesn’t bother him.

You have no chance of winning. You’re welcome.
