Obama’s Environmental Czar, Carol Browner, Leaving

Carol Browner, Obama’s chief environmental adviser, will be leaving her post soon, according to White House officials. Browner received praise for her handling of the BP oil spill and her advocacy of clean energy, but since the Republican takeover in the House, environmental issues have taken a back seat. At one point, Browner was considered a possible successor to deputy chief of staff Rahm Emanuel (though the position was later awarded to William Daley). It is unclear what she’ll do after leaving her post, but Browner has committed to staying long enough to allow a smooth transition. [Politico]
