Back in October, former mayor Rudy Giuliani hinted that another presidential run might be on the horizon, coyly telling reporters that “the door’s not closed.” Today a report in the Post claims that, actually, the metaphorical door has been completely unhinged and is now lying on the floor, and a draft is coming in.

Giuliani has even scheduled a trip to New Hampshire for next month to meet with constituents in the state that failed him in January 2008, when he placed fourth in the Republican presidential primary.

Some insiders say it’s a way for Giuliani to stay relevant. “He’s not doing all these morning talk shows because he enjoys the conversation, it is because he wants to stay in the game,” one said.
Who knows who these insiders are or whether they know what Giuliani is thinking, but yeah, makes sense. Whoever talks about Rudy Giuliani anymore? Not coincidentally, the last time the press paid attention to him for more than a minute at a time was when he flirted with a run for Senate/governor a little over a year ago.
Aside from his ego, the Post hears that Giuliani may be seeking a boost to his wallet, as his “speaking fees have dropped as well as his consulting fees,” a claim denied by Giuliani confidant Tony Carbonetti.
Giuliani himself blew ever so gently on the embers of speculation this morning on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. While he seemed to have no idea whether he was going to New Hampshire next month and denied rounding up his advisers, he made sure to add, “Of course, I keep it in the back of my mind.”
Which doesn’t sound very convincing. If Giuliani really wants to fake run for president, he could learn a thing or two from fellow fake-prospective-candidate Donald Trump, who just yesterday told CNN he’s “very, very seriously thinking about” running.
