Pedro Espada is already facing federal theft and embezzlement charges over his use of funds meant for his Soundview Health Clinics in the Bronx, but the feds didn’t stop there. He’s been indicted for several tax counts and misapplication of federal funds, as well as further conspiracy to commit theft and embezzlement charges. Prosecutors say that Espada and his son (also named Pedro) will be offered plea deals for reduced sentences in exchange for admission of wrongdoing — but knowing the Espadas, who pleaded not guilty to the original charges, they’re probably not going to give an inch.
