Haley Barbour’s Office Tries, Fails to Make Japanese Tsunami Funny

A daily e-mail full of tasteless jokes that is sent out by Mississippi governor (and likely presidential candidate) Haley Barbour’s press secretary to “staff and other allies” recently made light of the tsunami that has killed thousands of Japanese people:

[On this day in 1968,] Otis Redding posthumously received a gold record for his single, “(Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay”. (Not a big hit in Japan right now.)

Barbour doesn’t have any role in writing the e-mail and doesn’t even read it, which means he is blameless here, and also, that he is missing out on some awesome jokes.
