The seventeen-minute video, which had been seen by investigators at the National Institute of Standards and Technology but has only now been leaked to the public via the WikiLeaks-esque website Cryptome, includes up-close shots of the burning towers, as well as the shocked reactions of the helicopter crew. “The whole side. It’s gone!” someone shouts at the 4:05 mark. “The whole tower! It’s gone! Holy crap! They knocked the whole freakin’ thing down!” At thirteen minutes in, after the second tower collapses, someone solemnly observes, “That’s it. That’s the biggest disaster in the world, probably, right there.” It’s at once riveting and heartbreaking.
