Comments: Now With Thread Toggling, ‘Like’ Lists

Last night, we implemented two of the most requested features for our new commenting system. First, readers can now toggle threading on and off. (By that we mean that you can choose to see comments and replies grouped together in conversations, or, instead, simply view them in order of creation.) By default, readers will see comments threaded, which we believe is a better user experience for most articles. On the other hand, if you want to see every comment that comes into the Sex Diaries in order, then you can uncheck threaded. Second, If more than two people “like” a comment, you can click the number of likes to see the full list. We also made some changes to improve performance. As always, please let us know at commenting [at] nymag.com if you are having any problems. (I don’t know why we always say that. It’s not like you ever wouldn’t.)
