Vincent Leibell, a former state senator who pleaded guilty last year to charges of obstruction of justice and tax evasion, and is facing 18 to 24 months in prison at his sentencing in a couple of weeks, has suggested that instead of going to prison, he can “serve on one of our civilian nation-building teams” in the Middle East.
