Land’s End, Potential Buchanan Mansion From The Great Gatsby, Is No More

Well, it’s over. Land’s End, the Sands Point, Long Island, mansion that was thought to be the inspiration for the home of Tom and Daisy Buchanan in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, has been demolished. It will be replaced by five separate multimillion-dollar homes. In the first half of the twentieth century, the lavish parties at Land’s End saw “the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Dorothy Parker, Groucho Marx and, of course, the Fitzgeralds” dancing the night away.
