Gary Brooks Faulkner Takes His Due Credit for Bin Laden’s Death

Lost in all the talk about who deserves credit for the death of Osama bin Laden, one man has been woefully overlooked. In June of last year, Coloradan Gary Brooks Faulkner was detained by Pakistani authorities in the mountains of northwest Pakistan, armed with a sword and a pistol, either of which he hoped to use to murder Osama bin Laden. It was actually Faulkner’s sixth journey into Pakistan through the years in search of the terrorist mastermind, and it was this dogged determination that likely drove bin Laden from the mountains and into the cozy suburban compound where he was killed on Sunday, according to Faulkner. “I think maybe I flushed him down out of the mountains into the foothills,” he tells a local paper.
