John Heilemann on Morning Joe: Global Financial Fallout of DSK Arrest

On Morning Joe today, John Heilemann weighed in on the allegations that IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn sexually assaulted a maid in a Midtown hotel room, noting that DSK has played a large role in convincing European countries such as Germany to help with the financial rescue of “floundering” Southern European countries. Heilemann suggests the absence of DSK’s voice at IMF could mean Northern European countries might back down from supporting financial bailouts of countries such as Greece, which as we know, could have a significant global economic effect. “Suddenly, you’re Barack Obama and you’ve got another headache, conceivably, in Europe,” Heilemann said, “on the basis of what seems like a tabloid scandal story.”
