After Osama bin Laden was killed, the United States had to do something with his body. “Stuff it and take on a tour around the country so we each have a chance to punch it right in the face!” you say. Yes, that would be nice. But mistreating the body would be beneath us, frankly, and would only incite anger overseas. So bin Laden’s body was “handled in accordance with Islamic practice and tradition,” which means it was “washed by Muslim men and buried as soon as possible.” But where? Since officials don’t want his grave site to become a shrine or a target of body snatchers he’s been buried at sea, at an undisclosed location. [Note/ABC News, LAT]
