When Eva Amurri marries former soccer player Kyle Martino, it’ll be in front of Sister Helen Prejean, the death penalty abolition advocate played by Amurri’s mom, Susan Sarandon, in Dead Man Walking. “That’s very, very special,” Sarandon told us last night at Kiehl’s 160th anniversary party.
It was as simple as making a phone call. “[Amurri] thought of it and asked me and I contacted,” Sarandon said. That was but one of Sarandon’s two most onerous tasks in the buildup to the wedding. The other: choosing the perfect cake topper.
Not that Sarandon has much personal advice to offer, anyway. “Well, I’ve never been married, so I have no experience in planning a wedding,” she said. “I got married when I was twenty, but it was like pulling ivy off a wall, you know, my dress was Velcroed together. My wedding pictures have a clothesline hanging through them. It’s a very different thing.”
