Accused Rapist Spends Wedding Day Arraigned on Sex-Assault Charges

Accused Brooklyn rapist William Giraldo was supposed to get married on Wednesday, but instead spent the day being arraigned on charges related to one of four sex assaults. Giraldo is accused of raping a woman early Saturday in the lobby of her Sunset Park building after following her from a Dunkin’ Donuts. On Tuesday, Giraldo’s family recognized him on surveillance footage taken at the Dunkin’ Donuts that was released by the police, and Giraldo went to the police, allegedly to clear his name and proclaim his innocence. Giraldo was also suspected in three other attacks, though victims failed to positively identify him. But in the meantime, he’s being held on $100,000 bail at Rikers Island instead of celebrating his marriage.
