John Boehner and Barack Obama Tee Off [Update: President and House Speaker Reportedly ‘Had Fun’]

This morning, President Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden, House speaker John Boehner, and Ohio governor John Kasich began a long-anticipated round of golf at the Andrews Air Force Base, Obama’s home course. More details will emerge throughout the day, but there’s been some action on the first green alone: Kasich missed a 30-foot putt, Biden drained a 15-footer, Obama missed a 12-foot putt, and Boehner made a short putt for par before shouting, “Oh, yeah!” Plus, reporters have already spotted some affection: “After holing out, the foursome walked back to their carts with Obama patting Boehner on the back,” according to the Hill. “They are riding together while Biden and Kasich ride in the other cart.” [Hill, NYP]

Update: The Obama-Boehner team reportedly won $2 off Biden-Kasich, but none of the players released their scores. “The foursome had [a] great time and really enjoyed playing golf,” an administration official announced. Okay, but, whose score was lower: Obama’s or Boehner’s? And did they start wrestling? Or hug it out and end partisan politics forever? We may never know, but it sounds like whatever went down was pretty cute and cordial: After finishing their round, the president and Boehner enjoyed a cold one at the clubhouse, Politico reports. According to aides, the two parties “actually had fun” and “talked from time to time.” [Politico]
