Sarah Palin Gets Ten-Person Escort for Visit to Statue of Liberty

Sarah Palin’s confusing attention-seeking bus tour stopped by the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island today, where the possible presidential candidate hoped to express her appreciation for the vital role that immigrants have played in American history. Scratch that — legal immigrants only, of course.

Like anyone on a down-to-earth family vacation, Palin and her entourage (her mom, dad, and daughter Piper) were “accompanied by approximately 10 park rangers and police escorts.” Palin took a tour inside the statue, and when she emerged, according to the Post, a high-school brass band that happened to be visiting from Illinois decided to embarrass New York by striking up “The Star-Spangled Banner” in her honor. You are never welcome back here again, brass band from Illinois.
