Christine Quinn Reportedly Leads Mayoral Fund-raising Race

City Council speaker Christine Quinn, an expected contender in the 2013 election for New York City mayor, reportedly raised $1.32 million over the past six months, bumping her fund-raised cash for the mayor’s race to $4 million. That number’s nearly double the amounts that some of her expected competitors raked in: Public Advocate Bill de Blasio raised $675,000, while Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and former comptroller Bill Thompson raised less than that. Quinn, a lesbian, was a key advocate for marriage equality. Standing alongside man-of-the-hour Governor Andrew Cuomo at the Pride Parade this year, she looked excellent.
