People Would Rather Go to Court Than Pay for a Newspaper

When a Hilton hotel guest in San Francisco saw that he was charged 75 cents for consuming the copy of USA Today that was left outside his room, he realized he’d been duped. Now he’s suing the hotel for the “substantial” injuries he sustained from the mishap. His suit alleges that this sort of chicanery causes “millions of guests at [the] defendant’s hotels to unwittingly part with money for a newspaper they did not request and reasonably believed was provided to them without charge.” [SF Chronicle, Gawker]
