Americans Disapprove of Congress in Record Numbers

According to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll, 82 percent of the country is less than thrilled by the House’s recent performance, particularly when it comes to the nightmare that was the debt-ceiling debate. The current disapproval rate is the highest number ever recorded by the Times, which began asking about the subject in 1977. The crisis doesn’t seem to have done any favors for the tea party, either; 40 percent of the public now views the movement unfavorably, up from 29 percent in mid-April. [NYT]
