Last night, President Obama and GOP leaders reached a deal to raise the limit of the nation’s debt ceiling, and the House is expected to vote on it tonight. This morning, our own John Heilemann visited the Morning Joe crew to discuss what appears to many as a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad compromise, which, if nothing else, has given everyone something to talk about this summer besides the humidity. Did the President cave, host Joe Scarborough asked? “He got nothing that he wanted in this process, except the lifting of the debt ceiling,” Heilemann said. “Every stage of the negotiation, Republicans got more in policy terms than they had in the beginning of the negotiations.” So, that’d be a yes?
