Unlike demonstrations of yore, rioters haven’t burned any books as political statement. Nor have they even bothered to loot bookstores, though they’ve looted just about every other store in sight (and have vandalized at least one bookstore’s windows, a place specializing in gay lit). The angry youths have, however, looted plenty of “Apple-made gadgets,” so perhaps they’re downloading e-books to iPads, then burning them. [Prospero/The Economist]
