AIDS Cases Dropped 25 Percent in NYC This Year

A new report counts 2,969 cases diagnosed this year, down a quarter from last year and 47 percent since 2003. A representative for the city’s Bureau of HIV Prevention and Control said, “It’s not that people are not infected” with HIV, “it is that they are taking medications, they’re able to be more adherent, treatment has become easier.” [City Room/NYT]
