Today, Libya’s transitional leader, Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, declared his nation officially liberated, sparking off mass celebrations. This comes mere days after Muammar Qaddafi was captured and killed and stored away in a shopping mall’s cold locker — a fact not mentioned at all in Jalil’s speech. Shunted to the bottom of today’s AP’s report were the results of Qaddafi’s autopsy, conducted by Libya’s chief pathologist, who confirmed that the deposed dictator was, indeed, killed by a gunshot to the left side of his head. This will likely intensify calls from international observers for a full investigation into whether the “Brother Leader” was felled, as the government maintains, in the “crossfire” or execution-style.
