As the GOP electorate considers the latest developments in the ongoing Herman Cain sexual harassment scandal, feminist icon Gloria Steinem is following along as well. “Well, obviously, I’m just reading the newspapers like everybody else,” she told us last night at Glamour‘s Women of the Year Awards, where she received a lifetime achievement honor. “But I think as in the case of Strauss-Kahn, when one woman comes forward and tells the truth, it encourages others to do the same. So even though, say, in the Strauss-Kahn case, it was lost in the narrow court of the law, it was won, I would say, in the court of public opinion.” As for publicity-loving attorney Gloria Allred’s involvement with accuser number four, Sharon Bialek, Steinem says it in no way diminishes the severity of the allegations. “Gloria Allred is a very principled attorney,” Steinem insisted. “I don’t think she would take it if she didn’t think it was real.”
