Perhaps we are not the most avid pageant-watchers (we didn’t even know the Miss New York competition was being held this coming weekend), but the contestant video from Laura Hajek of Glens Falls surprised us by being funnier than many network sitcoms, and with production values to match. Hajek, as noticed by both the New York Observer and Reddit, goes the meta route in a semi-biographical interview with a puppet, and manages to name-drop Lou Reed’s New York, Woody Allen’s Manhattan, and the New York Times. Miss Congeniality or the next Sandra Bullock?
