Mitt Romney held a fancy fund-raiser last evening in New York City. Or, at least, attendees at the $2,500-a-head fund-raiser were under the impression it was going to be fancy. Instead, when they got to the Sheraton Hotel, there was no open bar — $9 for a domestic beer, but that’s only patriotic — and the food wasn’t very one percent, either, with nary a crostini in sight. The menu, an apparently hungry Romney supporter (former Romney supporter?) told the Post, was chips, salsa, and guacamole. “The guacamole was good,” said the anonymous source. “I’ll give them credit for that. It wasn’t spicy, but it was good.” Bland but pretty good is actually Romney’s whole campaign strategy, so perhaps the menu was fitting.
