This time, the arrested official is even closer to the candidate: Jenny Hou, his campaign treasurer. Like Xing Wu Pan, the previously arrested top Liu fund-raiser, she’s being charged for helping run a scheme to use straw donors to disguise the actual sources of Liu’s campaign money; additionally, she’s being tagged with obstruction of justice for trying to prevent the ongoing federal investigation of the Liu campaign’s fund-raising. Liu, meanwhile, just keeps on truckin’ in his campaign for mayor.
