The Time Jeremy Lin Walked Around Times Square and Nobody Cared

If Jeremy Lin tried to take a stroll around Times Square this afternoon, he would be mobbed by about 40,000 people in a matter of seconds. He’d have to duck into a Sbarro just to avoid being trampled, and then exit through a back alley four hours later wearing a fedora and a fake mustache. But in August of 2010, when Lin visited New York City for the NBA’s Rookie Transition Program, he was just some anonymous tall-ish dude eliciting a modicum of interest from bystanders — mostly, we’d guess, because of the camera crew following him around. That day, Lin got his caricature drawn by a street artist, met the Naked Cowboy, and ate at Shake Shack. It can never happen again.
